VAP – Visiting Artist Program

Nulla Più del Fiume Scorre

The Visiting Artist Program (VAP) at Fonderia 20.9 offers visual artists a one-week residency in Verona to develop and showcase in-progress research within a gallery setting, fostering public engagement and experimental practice. In this second edition, Giulia Flavia Baczynski collaborates with architect Daniele Balzanelli, developing a spatial narrative through photography and installation. Nulla Più del Fiume Scorre reveals Baczynski’s layered study of the “amphibious” space between the Po River and surrounding landscapes, where water shifts between presence and absence. The final showcase highlights organic forms, grounded by Ettore Sottsass’s conceptual approach, presenting viewers with visual pathways that immerse them in a dialogue on nature, measurement, and human connection to place.

Selected artists

Giulia Flavia Baczynski

An Italian visual artist, Baczynski’s work examines landscapes through an intricate play of imagery and structure, focusing on nature’s influence on human habitation. Her residency project engages natural spaces of the Po River’s shifting landscape, emphasizing measurement, suspension, and support as she translates physical terrains into layered, conceptual forms. Inspired by Ettore Sottsass’s minimalist designs, she interprets landscapes as metaphors of human presence, dwelling on themes of support and interconnectedness.

Daniele Balzanelli

A practicing architect, designer, and educator, Daniele Balzanelli integrates minimalist aesthetics and spatial awareness in his work. His conceptual approach aligns with Baczynski’s themes of structure and human presence, providing curatorial guidance that emphasizes the physical and symbolic elements of landscape interaction.
